History

Hebrews 4:12 anchors this year's theme — the conviction that Scripture is not a static text but a living, active force in the life of the Church.

Latunde Region's Christian Education Department was founded by Pastor Dr. Gabriel Dada, who chaired it until January 2015, when he was transferred to Nigeria by the mission's authority. Pastor Gbenga Famojuro, D.Min has chaired the department since 2015. In 2020, the department established its own USA-based printing press (CAC Latunde Region CED Printing Press Inc.) to produce Sunday School booklets, Bible study manuals, and daily devotionals — Living Water and Omi Iye — under the continued oversight of the worldwide Sunday School Department in Nigeria.

Since 2024, the department has also run a Sunday School Examination Initiative across Latunde Region's Zones and DCCs — testing and reinforcing Sunday School learning via online exams. Participation grew from 9 Zones/DCCs and 30 candidates in its first year to 14 Zones/DCCs and 50 candidates in its second (2025–2026), a 66% increase.
