The four pillars of health every believer should honor.

Dr. Cassandra Laleye, Chiropractic Doctor, on nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management as an act of stewardship over the body — 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Psalm 139:13.

"As a chiropractor and wellness advocate, I've spent years encouraging patients to tune in to the signals their bodies are sending, whether through pain, fatigue, or restlessness. But more than a physical response, these are often reminders of deeper imbalances in how we care for ourselves," writes Dr. Cassandra Laleye, Chiropractic Doctor, in the Christ Apostolic Church Hope For All newsletter. "And as a woman of faith, I believe our health journey isn't just about wellness — it's about worship."

"Scripture is clear: 'Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you... therefore honor God with your bodies' (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Our bodies are uniquely designed, miraculously knit together (Psalm 139:13) — and we have a divine responsibility to steward them well."

"That's where the 4 Pillars of Health come in. When we focus on nutrition, exercise, sleep, and stress management, we're not just promoting good health; we're aligning our habits with God's call to care for what He's entrusted to us. Let's take a deeper look at how each pillar supports both body and spirit."

1. Nutrition: fueling your temple. "'You are what you eat.' While it sounds cliché, this adage holds scientific and spiritual truth. The food we consume has the power to heal, energize, and restore — or inflame, deplete, and destabilize. In Genesis 1:29, God gave every seed-bearing plant... and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.' While we're no longer bound to Eden's menu, this verse reminds us that God provided natural, nourishing food to sustain His creation. Today, our plates are often filled with processed items that strip away the vitality we need. Instead, focus on whole foods — lean proteins, whole grains, healthy fats, and colourful vegetables. Drink plenty of water, too. Think of every bite as an opportunity to build strength, boost immunity, and fuel purpose."
